Overview
The M8 Pro shares its four-wheel-drive, self-levelling chassis with the M8, launched by XSTO at REHACARE in Düsseldorf in September 2026. The difference is in the seat: the backrest reclines under power from 90° to 135°, the legrest is powered through a 100° range, and a single button moves the whole seating system into a reclined resting position.
That makes it the XSTO chair to look at if you need to change position often through the day for comfort or pressure relief - something to discuss with your occupational therapist or wheelchair service. It is a little heavier and longer than the M8 because of the extra motors.
Good for
Highlights
- Everything in the M8 chassis: full-time 4WD, independent suspension, seat self-levelling and 100 mm obstacle clearance
- Powered backrest recline from 90° to 135°
- Powered legrest adjustable through a 100° range
- One-Touch Relax Mode that moves the seat into a reclined rest position
- Powered seat height (450–730 mm) and powered tilt (0–20°), with seat-position memory
- Up to 54 km range with the optional extra battery
Things to consider
Our honest notes, from XSTO’s figures and UK rules. Worth raising with the seller or your assessor.
- Brand new in September 2026; UK sales were pre-order when we checked (the UK distributor quoted about 12 weeks).
- At 1235 mm long when unfolded it is longer than the 1200 mm wheelchair size that National Rail says most trains are designed around. Check with the train company before relying on rail travel.
- Top speed is 12 km/h (7.4 mph), so it must be kept to 4 mph on pavements. XSTO does not state a UK class; ask the seller to confirm the class and road equipment.
- 72.6 kg without batteries - folding helps with storage, but it is not a chair most people could lift into a car.
- The 54 km range is XSTO's maximum with the optional battery; ask about the standard set-up.
- Battery sizes (about 645 Wh and 484 Wh each by volts × amp-hours) mean flying needs careful planning with the airline.

Certifications and approvals
We did not find product-specific certification documents (such as UKCA or CE declarations, or MHRA registration) on XSTO’s product pages. XSTO’s corporate site shows a range of approval marks without saying which apply to which model. If approvals matter to you, ask the seller for the documents for this model.
UK rules for this model
UK class: not stated by XSTO
XSTO quotes a top speed of 12 km/h. That is faster than the 4 mph (6 km/h) class 2 limit, so on pavements it must be kept to 4 mph. Road use needs a class 3 vehicle with the equipment GOV.UK lists, and class 3 vehicles must be registered with DVLA.
Ask the seller to confirm in writing which class it is supplied as, whether it needs DVLA registration, and whether VAT relief applies.
